Purchasing Assistant I

# Primary Purpose
Assist Purchasing staff with clerical functions such as record updating and data logging. Responsible for maintaining PO acknowledgements, receiving against PO's, and placing PO's to selected vendors as directed. Will also assist expedite function for Plant Buyers as necessary to maintain superior departmental work throughput. Position will be responsible for purchasing filing and scanning operations.

Responsibilities Include
Assist Purchasing staff as directed.
Duties to include the following but may be expanded as needs change:
Acknowledge Po's, assist in expediting deliveries for plant buyers as directed
Resolve invoice discrepancies as directed
Revise pickup and/or shipping schedules, arrange returns
Notify of complaints or rejections
Obtain shipping and forwarding information
Check on contract expiration dates
Keep specifications/supplier information updated.
Cross train to serve as backup for Motors/Drives/Clerical duties
Type/format correspondence, monthly reports, achievement reports, and other materials as directed.
Provide continuity of procurement process during Buyer's absence to maintain acceptable level of service to internal customers and external suppliers.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Two years post high school education in business or equivalent experience
Two years administrative experience. Exposure to purchasing or inventory management is desirable.
Proficient in the use of standard office software programs
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Well organized, disciplined, and must possess high work standards.
Strong ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and suppliers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard office environment
Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
